Celebrity Fashion - Where the stars shop!

Look no further than Mayfair and Belgravia for the designers who are adding glitz and glamour to some of the hottest celebrities’ wardrobes

There is almost nothing better for a designer’s profile than if a celebrity wears his or her design on the red carpet. As soon as a big event – from the Oscars to the latest film premiere – begins, the fashion blogosphere starts dissecting the stars’ choice of frock and tipping designers for greater stardom.

Hollywood may be more than 5,000 miles from Mayfair or Belgravia, but this corner of London plays host to top international fashion and jewellery designers whose wares have been worn by some of Tinseltown’s finest.

Founded by Detroit natives Karen and Eric Erickson and Vicki Beamon, Erickson Beamon’s impressive private client list includes everyone from Helen Mirren and Emily Blunt to Michelle Obama and Scarlett Johansson. The design house’s flagship Elizabeth Street store showcases its collection of attention-grabbing jewellery and accessories – perhaps you can spot the necklace that graced the neck of supermodel Elle Macpherson in a recent advert for Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model.

Irish designer Louise Kennedy counts Kylie Minogue and Gwyneth Paltrow among her fans, but an early triumph came in 1990, when Mary Robinson chose to wear one of Kennedy’s elegant, understated designs to her inauguration as Ireland’s first woman president. Kennedy’s light and airy West Halkin Street flagship store in the heart of Belgravia is a must-see space for discerning shoppers.

From Hollywood royalty to the royal family: Jenny Packham is a firm favourite of no less than Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. The Duchess, whose wardrobe is always in the spotlight, wore a Swarovski-studded pink Packham gown to a recent charity event, and also chose two of the British designer’s dresses to wear on the newlyweds’ recent North American tour. Packham’s other high-profile clients include Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lopez.

Finally, what better accessory for the red carpet than a red-soled shoe? There is hardly a starlet on earth who hasn’t donned a pair of Christian Louboutin’s eye-catching stilettos. Best of all, you don’t have to walk far to find one of his shops: he has sites in both Mayfair and Belgravia.
