A village in pictures
Belgravia residents and schoolchildren were invited to take part in a photography competition this summer, and the winners have now been announced
The competition, organised by the Belgravia Residents Association (BRA), asked entrants to submit "interesting images of Belgravia". Sara Oliver, head of communications for the BRA, said: "Inspiration can be found everywhere, from a quiet corner to a hidden gem, while shopping, visiting cafés or walking the dog."
The competition received more than 40 entries, which the BRA said included "quirky and contemporary images, as well as more conventional photographs and plenty of artistic talent".
The winner in the schools category was eight-year-old Maximilian Ghose, for his photo Belgravia Brides. Maximilian, who attends Eaton Square School, said: "When my French cousins came to visit us last Easter, I was very proud to show them around Belgravia, especially Elizabeth Street with its cute shops.
"I liked the decorations for the royal wedding and my cousins and my brother dressed up to mark the event," he added.
Winner of the adult category was Wings of Desire by Yana Demi, who was inspired by a film of the same name about earthbound angels in Berlin. "Angels observe, sympathise with and console the human race. They are invisible to most, but there are some intuitive beings who detect their presence," she said.
"I decided to make a series of photographs of angels around London."
