This month London will welcome some of the world’s leading athletes, who will be competing in a number of exciting Pre-Olympic test events to be held in and around London.

Part of the London Prepares series, in advance of the Olympics next year, the events are designed to test the event sites across London and all services associated with these events. In order to prepare and stage the events, there will be a number of road closures and local travel routes will be affected.

The next event to be held in London is the London-Surrey Cycle Road Race to be held this weekend, on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th August 2011. This is a 140km route through London and Surrey. The race will start at The Mall in central London at 9am and is due to finish between 12.15-12.30pm.

On Sunday 14 August, the whole of Knightsbridge will be closed in both directions and will affect bus routes.

For more information on this event please visit the London 2012 Olympic Website or go to the London Prepares series website.

All information regarding Road closures is detailed on the ‘news’ on TFL’s website of forthcoming road closures: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/20027.aspx.
