Spa gets a makeover from a former customer

A former Belgravia resident loved her local spa so much that she bought it and is now relaunching it

Sara Pearson, who is chief executive of her own PR and consultancy companies, used to visit Glow Urban Spa for regular treatments when she lived on Bourne Street. When it came up for sale, she bought both sites in Motcomb Street and Pimlico Road and renamed them Hushh Spas. Pearson aims to build on the top-notch reputation of the spa, which was named Day Spa of the Year by Conde Nast in 2010.

She said: “We have a team of extraordinary staff who have been at the spa a long time and offer a personal service. When you walk in, you are immediately immersed in a pampered environment and, as a great spa-user myself, that’s what I’m most interested in.”

All the latest luxury beauty treatments are still being offered, including waxing, facials, massage and pedicures, and a special manicure that lasts up to three weeks without chipping. There is also a new yoga studio above the Pimlico Road premises, with classes including mother-and-baby yoga.

Pearson has struck exclusive deals with makers of new beauty products on the market, including anti-aging serum BioEffect. Two scientists won a Nobel prize for proving that the product speeds up the rejuvenation of skin cells, and the spa has bought the exclusive right to use it in a facial treatment.

Treatments such as Botox are off the menu, however. “I’m a believer in treatments that are helpful for hydration and anti-aging but that don’t resort to invasive principles,” said Pearson.
