What to Do if You Haven’t Got Olympics Tickets – Summer in the Square

If you’ve been unable to get your hands on Olympics tickets for your chosen events, then there’s no reason why you can’t get into the spirit of the Olympic Games. Mayfair is getting into the sporting spirit with Summer in the Square. It takes place in the elegant surroundings of Grosvenor Square, Mayfair between July 26 and August 12 – running concurrently with the Olympic Games themselves.

Summer in the Square, Olympics events in Grosvenor Square, London

Grosvenor is putting on the event with an incredible line-up of entertainment. A full 18 days of free music, theatre and fun for the entire family to enjoy – in the heart of glorious, glamorous Mayfair.

So if you haven’t been lucky enough to get Olympics tickets, you can still enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Mayfair during the games.

And best of all, Summer in the Square is completely free of charge.

Summer in the Square – A Mayfair Event For All the Family
Grosvenor Square is just a short stroll away from Hyde Park, where the games will be broadcast live. When you visit Mayfair or Belgravia, you could spend the morning watching your favourite sports over a picnic in the park, then head over to Summer in the Square to spend the afternoon watching performances, taking part in activities, and revelling in the sporting spirit of this magnificent Mayfair event.

The square will be divided into fun-filled zones – so there’s plenty to do, whether you want to get involved in games or simply relax between events with fine music and some exquisitely elegant scenery.

Here’s a little of what you can expect when you leave the bustle of the city behind and visit the playful haven in Grosvenor Square:

Music and Theatre at London’s Summer in the Square
Every afternoon, between midday and 2pm, visitors will be treated to music from some of the best up-and-coming classical, jazz and soul performers.

And on weekend evenings, the stage will be taken over by a raft of theatre companies, who will perform Shakespeare favourites and other great family-friendly theatre pieces.

Games and Activities at London’s Summer in the Square
No Olympics event would be complete without sports and games. Rather than try to match the gruelling races and tense competition of the Olympics, however, we’ve opted for a far more relaxing set of games that will provide plenty of opportunity for small-scale tournaments between family and friends.

Visitors to Summer in the Square can unwind with a game of croquet, chess or boules – and one corner of Grosvenor Square will be decked out with table tennis table, for those that fancy some faster-paced fun.

Kids, meanwhile, will love our giant takes on classic family games such as Snakes and Ladders and Connect 4 – if they can wrestle mum and dad away, that is!

Children’s Entertainment at London’s Summer in the Square
Every weekend from Saturday July 28, we’ll be putting on a winning programme of entertainment tailored specifically for kids.

Children can watch puppet shows and balloon modelling demonstrations, and have their faces painted – so we’re sure to see plenty of Olympics-themed faces around Grosvenor Square during the games.

Food and Drink at London’s Summer in the Square
There’s so much going on in Mayfair and Belgravia during the games that regular rest stops are a necessity. That’s why we’re providing food and drink during the Summer in the Square celebrations. Visitors to Mayfair and Belgravia will be able to stop by at Grosvenor Square for snacks and refreshments, whilst catching an afternoon performance or simply relaxing in serene surroundings.

Whether you’re lucky enough to have Olympics tickets or you’re simply visiting London for a day break during the games, Summer in the Square provides the perfect opportunity to escape the crowds and take part in some fun activities.

Summer in the Square will take place every day between Thursday July 26 and Sunday August 12. The site will open to the public at 11am and close between 7pm and 8pm.
